Wallet in Telegram, the only digital asset solution natively embedded into the Telegram interface, announced that it obtained a license from Uzbekistan’s National Agency for Perspective Projects (NAPP) for its custodial service Crypto Wallet. This license allows Wallet to offer regulated digital asset services under Uzbekistan’s national framework.
As of December 9, the company will officially operate as a licensed provider in Uzbekistan — becoming accessible to over 27 million Telegram users in Uzbekistan for the first time.
Wallet in Telegram allows users to easily sign up for and access the service right from within the Telegram interface — where they can buy, send, receive and trade over 200 other digital assets, including Toncoin, BTC and USDT. Users also have the option to seamlessly buy digital assets and cash out using bank cards from Humo, Visa and Mastercard — simplifying the crypto experience at every step.
“Bringing Wallet in Uzbekistan means giving millions of users easy and reliable access to saving, investing, and transacting with crypto — all within the Telegram experience they already trust,” said Andrew Rogozov, Founder and CEO of The Open Platform (TOP) and Wallet in Telegram.
Uzbekistan has one of the highest adoption rates for Telegram of any country in the world, as over 88% of its online population are users of the app. It is the de facto app for messaging, communities and commerce — and with the addition of Crypto Wallet, can also serve as the chief platform for digital finance.
Over 150 million people have registered with services from Wallet in Telegram already, as Uzbekistan marks the next major rollout since the rollout of Wallet in Telegram’s self-custodial service in the United States earlier this year. This also marks the next step in a series of future launches for Wallet in Telegram, as the company is actively pursuing similar licenses in other markets.
